First East Coast Install for CertainTeed Apollo Solar Roofing!

Shore Solar Energy, a Division of Shore Siding Inc, is proud to announce the very first East Coast installation of CertainTeed Solar’s new Apollo Solar Roof Integrated Panel! While this same technology has been installed on the West Coast and Hawaii, it was only introduced into certain East Coast markets in the 4th quarter of 2011.

The CertainTeed Solar Apollo system consists of a roof “integrated” panel. With this installation there is no need for a racking system to attach the panels to your roof. Apollo actually becomes part of your roof, replacing an area of traditional asphalt shingles. Because Apollo is designed to be a part of your roof and it weighs about the same as asphalt shingles, there is no need for structural reinforcements as there may be with the traditional rack mounted system. Being that there is no racking system needed Apollo also eliminates the extra roof penetrations caused by the racks being installed on top of your asphalt shingles. This house can be found on the corner of 11th and Central in Ocean City.

First the old aluminum siding was removed and disposed of. Then, new CertainTeed Cedar Impressions Perfection Shake, Naturals Collection Cedar Blend was installed. The windows surrounds were covered with PVC coated aluminum with crown molding installed.  The front porch roof was extended a bit to mimic the older style of the house and custom PVC boards were installed to the fascias along with PVC corbels. The porch posts were replaced and new recessed PVC column wraps were installed over the posts. A vinyl half rail was installed to the porch roof to mimic a widows walk. Custom PVC boards were also installed to all of the 3rd floor dormers. The old worn pergola in the rear of the home was removed and a new maintenance free vinyl pergola was installed.

Above:  Outdoor covered porch are where there was once a drop ceiling. The ceiling was removed to expose the vaulted ceiling. Then, the structural beams we covered in mahogany, a custom window opening was cut into the wall where a vintage leaded glass window was installe, then the ceiling and walls were covered with tongue and groove mahogany boards.

The above garage is a dramatic transformation from what it used to be. A new pitched roof was added above the old one and new designer roof shingles were installed. Next, new windows, an entry door and a garage door were added. Finally new siding was installed over the existing cement block walls after the walls were furred out with treated wood. New stucco to the exposed foundation and new lights were the finishing touches on this project.

Here are a couple of pictures of decks on a condo in Avalon. These decks were actually rebuilt only a couple of years ago by another company, but unfortunately they did a poor job and the decks became dangerous and unusable. We bought in our engineer and together came up with a plan to make the decks as safe and functional as possible. They were rebuilt from the ground up with all new materials by our talented staff of carpenters.

Rosenberg

This project is located in Stone Harbor right on the beach. The house was removed of it’s old cedar siding, wood trims and roofing. New rooflines were added along with custom metal roofing. A  lifetime shingle from Certainteed was installed to all other roofs. All new double dipped cedar shake siding was installed along with new PVC trim and custom PVC flower boxes. All of the PVC trim was painted afterwards.

Biscayne

The Biscayne Suites are located at 820 Ocean Ave in Ocean City. This project was done in two parts. First the north and south walls were completed in 2008 and the east and west wall were completed this year. This involved removing the old EIFS (synthetic stucco), repairing any damaged structure that was found, and framing of walls per the architects specs. The old windows and doors were removed and replaced with new Andersen windows and Therma-Tru doors. The front facade was changed to remove the existing wall by the pool area and replace it with custom glass rails. New Certainteed siding was installed along with PVC board trims. As is viewable from the pictures this was a huge undertaking, but you don’t get to be a large condo specialist without putting in the work!

Argentina – Central Ave

Working with the home owner and architect Shore Siding turned this standard duplex into something special. By using new pent roofs around the house and the carport, adding arches to the carport, cutting back the 3rd floor roof line to build a 3rd floor deck, much need character was added to the house.
